Corneliu Montano is both charming and joking, upbeat and jovial, serious and composed. He has a lot of ambitions and is enthusiastically involved with all projects he undertakes.

Born in Bucharest, Romania, Corneliu Montano studied singing in Canada, United States and Europe. If his life is divided between New York and Montreal, it’s in Quebec that he chose to settle. He studied especially from Richard di Renzi, who still advises, and with the great soprano Virginia Zeani, as well as prestigious Purchase Conservatory in New York, the Conservatorio di Mantova in Italy and the Academy of Music in Bucharest. Corneliu Montano was a tenor soloist and, among others, performed on stage in leading roles in operas by Gounod, Menotti and Verdi with the Purchase Conservatory. After ranking among the finalists of Star Search and American Idol, it's Star Academy 2004 who gave him a chance to break when he was selected from over 6,700 applicants to participate in the popular program. Later on spring 2004, he had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many internationally renowned artists such as Lara Fabian, Samantha Fox and Gypsy Kings. With other artists of Star Academy, he performed on the biggest stages in Quebec and Ontario as part of the Star Academy tour in the summer of 2004. Corneliu was invited to the 2004 Quebec City Summer Festival, to perform on stage with Helmut Lotti and Gino Quilico. He also performed a few times with, among others, Nathalie Choquette and the Laurentian Symphony Orchestra. In November 2004, Corneliu released his first solo album. A self-titled album that reflect his eclectic taste and the ease with which he moves from pop music to classic vocal repertoire.
